I used to have aspirations of becoming a quasi internet celebrity and for a while I was doing quite well. I was never an A list blogger but I was definitely getting more hits than the average blogger. I occassionaly stare blankly at a wall, reminiscing those good old days. I’ve commited the worst sin a blogger could possibly make. I’ve forsaken my online life for my offline life.
I once thought of taking a stab at vlogging but then I realized that would just make me realize how boring my life is and make me want to commit suicide ..that and the thought of family members seeing my videos just didn’t seem very appealing.
Let us examine the various denizens of the intarnets who have made it to superstardom

Some may say that his videos are crap but that’s only because they’re using their eyes Mrpregnant discusses profound social issues without being bound by concepts that usually hinder the common man such as self respect and sense of shame. Such as the video below wherein he discusses the importance of birth control and abortion. His points are so effective and so vividly articulated that even the staunchest of pro-life activists will be turned. A few seconds of watching the video, and you yourself will want to take to the streets, bearing slogans like “abort grotesquely deformed babies” or “death to anyone who engages in inter-species sex” (I’m seeing an angler fish somewhere in that face)

One of the most controversial of youtube celebrities. At one point, her channel was the second most susbscribed in youtube. She made her way into the hearts of her fans and became sort of an obsession for them. So much of an obsession that some of them went as far as investigating details about her. It was revealed September last year that she was actually a hoax -A sort of art film experiment, according to the people behind the project. I think There was even talk that she was gonna be made into a Hollywood movie. Many a geek cried. Many of them tried to kill themselves but couldn’t …coz they were geeks. She still posts videos. But now that the secret’s out in the open, she can afford to have more elaborate plotlines

Happyslip

Happyslip: I don’t know if she’s in the same league as the other internet celebrities here but she has a lot of subscribers and most important of all, she’s filipina …and moderately hott. She’s living proof that the filipina is distinct among all other south east Asians. Just one look at her an you’d know for sure that she’s filipina. Her videos range from comedic to inspirational. Editing is superb, almost seems professionally done sometimes which causes some people to ask if she has a team behind her. Her humor involves a lot of inside jokes -She spoofs some of her parents’ mannerisms. You’ll see hints of Filipino humor like spoofing various regional accents etc. What makes her interesting is that aside from her usual like-it-or-hate-it comedic videos, she also has videos that give you an insight into her personality and what kind of life she lives.

Katers17

One of my personal favorites. She’s cute, she’s a geek, she’s a gamer, she’s a gamer, she’s a gamer, she has a good sense of humor and most important of all, she’s british. That’s important coz I fancy myself a british gentleman. I’d speak everyday with a british accent if I could get away with it. Her videos are well directed and her choice of background music is very commendable. She doesn’t post videos very often though and she hasn’t posted anything in quite a while

Cutiemish

insane, cute, random and silly are the first adjectives that come to mind when describing the videos of this popular, barely 18, asian pedo magnet. She first gained popularity with her tetris video in which she played the theme of tetris on her piano. Michelle has charm in droves. Most of her videos totally lack coherence but some say that that is the key to her appeal –random silliness Mish has a huge male following from different age groups and, interestingly, a lot of them are non Asians. Most of cutiemish’s earlier videos have very poor framerates. Possibly intentional but most likely, a sign of a camera that doesn’t perform well indoors. Among the youtubers here, cutiemish seems to have the most number of songs written for her.
